What Is a Pobiwump?

Pobiwumps are tiny, curious, mischievous creatures with the magical ability to change into almost anything.

Fig. II. A dwelling found beneath the roots of an old oak.

No bigger than a flower, they make their homes in the most unexpected places, hidden beneath trees, inside hollow logs, and among the roots of forests and gardens.

Fig. III. Pobiwumps at play, with gathered gems.

Naturally playful and competitive, Pobiwumps spend their days exploring, collecting magical gems, and challenging one another to games and contests of skill.

Fig. IV. A hidden village, as seen at dusk.

For as long as anyone can remember, Pobiwumps have quietly lived alongside us, making their homes in places most people would never think to look.

Fig. V. Far from home, in a most unfamiliar place.

But curiosity has a way of drawing Pobiwumps beyond the safety of their homes.

Fascinated by the world around them, they often find themselves in unfamiliar places, where their playful nature and love of mischief lead to unexpected adventures.

Fig. VI. Forms observed: pumpkin, bicycle, and mailbox.

Fortunately, Pobiwumps have a remarkable way of avoiding discovery. Whenever someone gets too close, they simply change into something ordinary.

A pumpkin in the garden, a bicycle by the fence, or even an old mailbox.

Fig. VII. Look closely; something is looking back.

So the next time you see a lamp blink, or catch a mailbox looking your way, don’t be too surprised.

You may have just spotted a Pobiwump.
